Meet Our Founder

Debra Buhring Llapaj

After a successful legal career, more than two decades living throughout the Mediterranean, and years passionately studying whole-being wellbeing, Debra founded GiGi’s Angels with a simple but ambitious vision—to help give children the foundations to flourish—not only in childhood, but throughout life.
Her work today is centered on a lifelong exploration—what enables us to realize our full potential?
That quest catalyzed the creation of the Renaissance Revolution and The Masterpiece Method™ | The Art & Science of Flourishing—a science-informed, accessible, whole-being approach to helping adults cultivate greater vitality and vibrancy. She also brings that philosophy to life through intimate Wanderlust & Wellness Immersions.
In developing this body of work, Debra recognized something that profoundly shaped the evolution of GiGi’s Angels—many of the qualities adults work so hard to rediscover are already beautifully present in children.

What if we could help nourish those qualities while they are still taking root?
GiGi’s Angels is the childhood expression of that worldview—creating opportunities and experiences that help children strengthen and internalize these natural capacities while cultivating resilience, confidence, community, belonging, and a strong sense of self.
Debra’s trauma-sensitive perspective draws from an unusual combination of professional experience, formal study, extensive independent research, and lived experience. A former partner at Dentons and Associate General Counsel at Sara Lee and Chiquita, she holds a Master’s in Natural Health, is a HeartMath® Resilience Guide, and holds additional certifications in fitness and nutrition. She is also a multi-genre author whose books span wellbeing and personal transformation as well as fiction inspired by the places she has lived, traveled, and loved.
Debra believes one of the best ways to help children flourish throughout life is to nourish these innate capacities early—giving them strong foundations so they shouldn’t have to work so hard to reclaim them later in life.

Edward J. Sullivan

Our Chairman, Edward J. Sullivan IV, is an engineer, serial entrepreneur, and technology executive with more than three decades of experience building and scaling technology companies. He has founded and led businesses spanning internet infrastructure, enterprise software, business data, and artificial intelligence, including LaserLink.net, Aria Systems, Trust Exchange, and QuestHouse.ai. A Drexel-trained electrical engineer, Ed combines deep technical experience with a career focused on turning emerging technologies into commercially scalable platforms. He is also active in humanitarian and nonprofit leadership, including serving as U.S. Chairman of the Panzi Foundation, which supports the work of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dr. Denis Mukwege and Panzi Hospital in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Al Lopez

Al Lopez is a seasoned global executive, public company director, and financial leader with more than three decades of experience across consumer brands, apparel, food, and international business. He has held senior leadership roles with organizations including Dole, Frito-Lay, and Sara Lee.
Today, Al is the Founder, Chairman & CEO of Alma Coffee, an integrated coffee enterprise connecting his Honduran roots with a passion for creating opportunity and meaningful impact through business. A U.S. Army veteran, CPA, and MBA graduate of Vanderbilt University, he brings deep expertise in executive leadership, finance, and governance to GiGi’s Angels.
